Sweet, Warhammer Beta

Yesterday I was accepted into the Warhammer Online Beta.

According to the e-mail I received, that’s about all I’m allowed to really say.

So, that means I can’t talk about it.

Either way, some time away from FF can’t be all bad, and its a chance to try something new, especially since my FF commitments are not nearly as high as they used to be.

The Most Depressing Post Ever

I was looking down my friend’s list recently, it was depressing.

136 people when you combine both friend’s lists.  46 still playing, 2 in jail, 1 was hacked.  87 no longer play.  I noticed that Ata’s list has a much greater percentage of people who no longer play, over half of Pyra’s list are still players.  I guess this is one of the curses of playing something for this long, so many good friends are bound to just go away.

Putting the Goon in Dragoon

So I decided to give Dragoon a fair chance for once.

For years, I’ve mocked it, joked about it, and even offered condolences when someone leveled up.  But today, I wanted to try.

Since I got home from work very late and missed dynamis, I took the time to use an emperor’s band charge on my level 1 dragoon.

dragooning

Almost made it to level 7 on the one charge.  I’m going to keep going, try to get both DRG and SAM to 20 this weekend.  My dancer is stuck at 49, and after a couple days of seeking, I’m going to take a break and mule much of the gear.  I just wanted lvl 50 so I could start the AF quests.  Oh well, I’ll probably go back to DNC in a couple weeks or so.

As to the name on my Wyvern, an old friend who quit a long time ago had the same one.  I really just had to.

A Day of Highs and Lows

I like doing big numbers, especially with my thief, who so rarely gets the impressive WSs.

This is from Limbus.

de_part1

de_part2

I was so surprised, as its normally the Samurai’s job to make with the deathening.

Maybe these had an Acid Bolt and Dia 3 on them, but that’s hardly the point.  The point is that I broke 1K on Dancing Edge on Limbus monsters with /nin :).

At the end of Limbus, I was asked to “Find some rdm in the chest”.  I tried my best, but I think everyone will agree that this is the biggest failure chest ever.

failure_chest

Yeah…  DRK, DRG, and BST in 1 chest.  What a waste of 3 AF+1 items.

Although this may have been 1-up’d by my failure /random for coins.

failure_random

At least the low randoms got more coins this time.

Earlier in the day, I had this.

failure_roll

I had just made the comment about how Nift was the most inconsistent lotter I knew, then I proceed to roll 1 lower than him on the one item (71 vs 72), and 20 higher on the other item.

Such an odd weekend (yes, I know this isn’t going to ‘published’ status until Thursday, I’ve just got a backlog of entries).

Well Hello There Ugly

Woooooo!  I’m still excited about this, as this has been a thorn in my side for quite some time now.

I randomly went with a group of friends to do some Golden Salvage in order to get the one person a few points towards ranking up, when another member of the LS asked for help with Evisceration WSNM.  So we all went off to Gustav to kill the bat.

After the bat, we checked to see if Ungur was up.  He wasn’t, so we tried for a little bit to pop him.

ungur_standing_still

On the last pop we would have waited for (about an hour), he popped.  An amazing effort was made using 3 SMNs as DD and a NIN, RDM/NIN, and THF/NIN to try to keep hate off of the SMNs.

ungur_fight1

We got him to 50% before a couple lucky TP moves took out most of the SMNs.

A couple friends showed up to help, and we changed some jobs, and tried again.

Much smoother this time around.

my_lot

That’s how you know I wanted it, I lotted an 890 :).

Later that night in Limbus, I was trying it out.

Greetings MechWarrior

A friend of mine at work loaned me a copy of MechWarrior 2, circa 1995.  There were two goals:

1)  Hear the sound track that comes on the Disk

2)  Attempt to get the game to play on WinXP

Getting the game to install was tricky enough.

(image links to full sized version of the pic)

I’m not sure if my midi was working.  And ‘Electronic Registration’ was a fax machine.

I do wish I had gotten a screenshot warning me that the “Full” install was “105 MegaBytes”.  Wooo, considering my drive has around 384 GigaBytes free, I wasn’t too concerned.  Besides, FF takes up around 9 GB and my FRAPS folder is another 5 GB.

The game does not currently play.  It crashes as it tries to start the actual game – although the opening CSs play fine in their 640×480 glory.  I also cannot get screenshots of the game, FRAPS apparently does not realize it is playing a game.

Oh well, it was worth it just to see if I could make the game run.  I have not given up yet, but I believe it will take something a little more exotic than I had originally planned.  Now if I can find my copy of Win95 and Virtual PC, I might be able to make this work.

New Storyline Cutscenes, Part 7 – Conclusion, and for some reason, more Chess

Pyra smells nice.

But I like chess.

Knight to King’s Rook 3

more_chess2

I’m sorry, I wasn’t listening, I’m so good at this game, did you say something?

more_chess3

Indeed.

New Storyline Cutscenes, Part 6 – The Male Mithra and the Pyra

After the battle, a male mithra is let loose inside the female mithra troops.  What follows can only be described as Mithra’s Gone Wild.

But he’s too cool for all of them.  And instead, he decides to go for the Pyra.

sniff_pyra

And he sniff me.  Weird.

Hmmm.  You smell like cat food.
