{"id":598,"date":"2009-08-11T19:20:55","date_gmt":"2009-08-11T23:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sphericality.org\/pyra\/2009\/08\/11\/if-servers-were-cities\/"},"modified":"2009-08-11T19:20:55","modified_gmt":"2009-08-11T23:20:55","slug":"if-servers-were-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sphericality.org\/pyra\/2009\/08\/11\/if-servers-were-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"If Servers Were Cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night, a friend and I were discussing which city best represents each server.<\/p>\n<p>It started when discussing Quetz and my friend described it as the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Alabama of servers\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.&#160; I, being the smartass I am, asked \u00e2\u20ac\u0153so what would be the Mississippi of servers?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, and without hesitation, he replied \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fairy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>Which started a small discussion of which city represents each server.<\/p>\n<p>Odin, it was determined was NYC.&#160; Very popular place to be, lots of people.&#160; Remora was therefore North Jersey.&#160; They so badly want to be Odin (NYC) but, like the real Jersey, is where those not quite good enough for NYC end up.<\/p>\n<p>We had a hard time trying to figure out where that would make Bahamut.&#160; I suggested Boston, which was quickly responded to with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153No, I like Boston\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.&#160; My friend suggested London.&#160; I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know how to respond to that, so we let it just sit.&#160; London may have been due to my friend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s dislike of both London and the BG crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Diabolos (my original server) is Detroit.&#160; The place sucks like no other, but if that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the only server you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been on, it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel so bad.<\/p>\n<p>Caitsith, as I described it, is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153vacation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, especially after being on Diabolos for so long.<\/p>\n<p>That wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t good enough, and my friend being a Caitsith native asked me why so many people were migrating from Diabolos to Caitsith.&#160; I thought about it and realized that there were quite a few, although as far as I know, I was one of the first to move over.&#160; It is almost trendy to move here now, especially from Diabolos.<\/p>\n<p>So we came up with the best city where it is trendy to want to move to and the people are generally friendlier (than Detroit).&#160; Our answer was Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>As to the others?&#160; Neither of us really had any experience with them, so I invite others to compare your server to a city and give a reason why.&#160; You can even disagree with me, although your chances of changing my mind on Diabolos are small.<\/p>\n<p>-pyra<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night, a friend and I were discussing which city best represents each server.
