Just because one person doesn’t care about something doesn’t mean other’s don’t’ care. ( linky! )
Lets face it, for most people, there isn’t a whole lot left to post about. And looking on TTTO, there are a LOT of people who play WoW or another MMO either to take time away from FF, or along with FF, or play it more than FF, only occasionally logging into Vana’diel. So a WoW post is probably just as interesting to many as a FF post.
I saw this too and thought about you. But I dont agree with him. Sometimes I just wanna see how other MMOs look. So thank you Pyra.

Lol. Its me. I’ve been told I actually have a different personality with each character I create, so I’m exploring it a bit, especially since my ‘ata personality’ is all but dead since I never play her anymore.
It also comes down to a kind of outlet for me. Every so often, its just nice to not be yourself.

To keep both sides happy, I’ve decided to moderate the entries to differentiate the FFXI and Non-FFXI posts. And because it’s a site about FFXI, by default, Non-FFXI posts will be hidden on the main page.
However, if users want to view those posts that aren’t related to FFXI, they can enable the setting (at “profiles and settings” page) to display those entries.

I kinda like to read what other ppl do and go on after FFXI. And also interesting that those posts get more clicks than any FFXI related one ^^. Seams like a lot are interested what happens besides just the same old stuff in FFXI and want to read something more fresh and new.

Me too, I like to see what people do when they don’t FFXI. And if I start reading the post, and I find myself not really caring — or in some cases just not understanding — I skip around or go read something else.
Oh yes, the incoming drama posts always get more hits than the ‘lookie what I killed’ posts. My most popular post was one about people I dislike, followed by leveling a summoner in campaign (I don’t get it either, its not that complex, but thank you google for the hits).
I like Wyred’s idea, but I don’t like how it puts all the work on him.
One of the reasons I originally started using a different username for the WoW posts was so it could be easily differentiated. But I do sometimes forget and put the wrong user on the posts. I’d be willing to change my tagging around so that only FFXI related stuff gets a FFXI tag, and anything not FFXI-related does not (or use a category instead of a tag).
Hey, I make no apologies for what I said but I’m posting to let you know it wasn’t directed at you specifically, there were other people doing it, and I just was starting to get annoyed with it all. I’ll admit I’m being a jerk, because I hate wow and everything about it and I just don’t like seeing articles about it on TTO, but it’s nothing personal against you.
I for one think this is ridiculous, and I’m kind of offended at all this. I enjoy reading the WoW-related posts that pop up on TTTO every now and again.
If you have a problem reading the posts you don’t like, set up your own feed page to read the blogs you enjoy, ie the FFXI-only blogs. I feel kind of discriminated against with all this, and my posts only as of late have had a little WoW content in them.

I’m going to let this drop here. I’m still willing to change some tagging to make the TTTO indexer handle the FFXI vs non-FFXI issue.
Either way, I’ll probably close the comments on this post tomorrow morning. Leaving them open won’t help anyone.
It’s hugely my fault for implementing the filter. I didn’t expect it would cause such a stir because I thought everyone would be ok if they were given the option to not filter it out.
But I’ll leave it there and see how things go. Sorry to everyone for this mess. >_<
